Our Services

Eye Examinations

Comprehensive eye examinations are necessary whenever there is an indication of a possible visual problem, but they are also important on a regular basis, especially during childhood, mid-life and throughout the later years. Some diseases can subtly harm vision without noticeable warning signs. Early detection means a greater chance of effective treatment.

Corneal Topography

Corneal topography, also known as photokeratoscopy or videokeratography, is a non-invasive medical imaging technique for mapping the surface curvature of the cornea, the outer structure of the eye. Since the cornea is normally responsible for some 70% of the eye’s refractive power, its topography is of critical importance in determining the quality of vision and corneal health.

Contact Lens Fitting

Almost everyone who wears glasses is suitable for contact lenses, even children. During a contact lens consultation your eligibility will be assessed and the right contact lenses for your lifestyle fitted. All this, with your comfort, safety and vision accuracy in mind. If you’re thinking about trialling contact lenses for the first time or have taken a break from wearing them, book in for a contact lens consultation with one of our expert optometrists.

Diabetic Eye Examinations

Diabetes is one of the most common diseases in older Australians. Diabetic eye disease refers to a group of eye problems that diabetics may face as a complication of their diabetes. All can cause severe vision loss or even blindness. Often there are no symptoms in the early stages of the disease, nor is there any pain. Don’t wait for symptoms.

Glaucoma Assessment

Each year at the Eye Opener we treat many patients who have moderate to very advanced glaucoma. Many of these patients could have benefited from much earlier diagnosis or more careful and precise monitoring of their risk factors. Other patients known to have glaucoma can benefit from more accurate assessment progression of the disease over time with more advanced assessment in order to prevent further vision loss over time.
